Each feature is off until you switch it on, and each one can be
switched off again just as easily.
Live location, on your terms
Sharing stays off until you start it, for a set time or until you
stop. See everyone sharing with you on one map, with their last
update and battery level. Stopping takes effect at once, and nobody
is told that you stopped.
SOS, with no countdown
Immediate. Your family is alerted with your position and your
emergency message. A private SOS PIN cancels a false alarm without
anybody having to reach you first.
Safety alarm that escalates
For a walk home, a late journey, a meeting with someone you don't
know. Set a countdown and choose who to contact, in order. If you
don't answer, the first person is asked to check on you; if they
don't respond in time, it moves to the next. The moment someone says
"I've got this", everybody else is stood down.
Daily check-in
A simple "I'm fine" for the people who worry. Set a time, answer
with one tap. Miss it, and the contacts you chose are told.
Chat that stays in the family
One-to-one and group chats with photos, files, voice notes and
shared locations. Star what matters, reply to a single message,
forward and delete.
Nearby help
Ask people near you for help, and be asked. Off until you turn it
on, never shown at an exact address, and pausable any time.
Reminders that actually ring
Medicine, appointments, school runs — for you, or for someone else
in your family. They ring on the phone instead of sitting unread in
a list.
Your own QR code
Every person has a code. Show it or share the picture, and somebody
standing next to you can add you in one scan instead of spelling out
a username.
Current mode
Driving, studying, sleeping, travelling. Your family sees it next to
your photo, so they know whether now is a good moment to call.
Getting started
Three steps, about five minutes
1
Create your account
Sign in with your phone number and a one-time code. No password to
forget, and no social account required.
2
Build your circle
Invite the people who should be able to see you — scan their QR code
or search their username. Each person accepts before anything is
shared.
3
Choose what to share
Turn on live location when you want it, set a check-in time, save
the places that matter. Everything stays off until you decide
otherwise.
Privacy
You decide who sees you. That's the whole product.
A safety app that was careless with your data would be a contradiction.
These are commitments, not settings buried three screens deep.
Your circle, and nobody else
Only the people you have added can see your location. Blocking
someone hides you from them completely, and they are not told.
Never sold, never advertised against
Your data is not sold, and it is not used for advertising. SFamily
carries no advertising ID and no third-party analytics or tracking
libraries.
Deletion means deletion
Close your account from inside the app, or from our website if
you've already uninstalled. Location history is kept for 90 days;
stories disappear after about 24 hours.
Location in the background
SFamily collects location data even when the app is closed or not in
use, so your family can see you on the map while you are sharing,
your SOS carries where you are, and your saved places know when you
come and go. You choose who sees it, every time.
Report and block, on everything
Any post, story, message, profile or help request can be reported,
and you can block the person in the same step. Reports are private —
the other person is never told who reported them.
Ages 13 and over
SFamily is for people aged 13 and up. Under-18s should use it with a
parent or guardian who knows they have it.
Questions
Before you ask
Can my family see me all the time?
No. Sharing is off until you start it, and you choose who and for how
long. When you stop, it stops immediately — and nobody is notified
that you stopped.
Does it drain my battery?
Location only runs while you are actively sharing, and the app slows
its updates when you are not moving. When sharing is off, SFamily
isn't tracking anything.
What happens if I don't answer a check-in?
The contacts you chose are told, in the order you set. Each person is
given time to respond before it moves to the next. As soon as one of
them confirms they're handling it, everyone else is stood down.
Can I use it with friends, not just family?
Yes. "Family" is whoever you add — a partner, a flatmate, a parent, a
group of friends walking home. The permissions work the same way for
all of them.
Is there an iPhone version?
It's in development. Android is in closed testing now, and iOS
follows. Write to us if you'd like to know when it lands.
How do I delete my account?
Profile → Delete account, inside the app. If you've already
uninstalled it, you can request deletion from our website without
reinstalling.
